This is a sketch Elsa made when we were first brainstorming how we wanted to portray Tanzy.
Meet the caretakers of Vonawood Forest, the magical home of the ‘Portal Combat’ books.
The ‘Portal’ stories are written by Raighne Davidson and
the illustrations are done by Elsa Kotrla.
Raighne is Elsa’s mom.
The creation of Vonawood was inspired by Raighne’s grandmother, ergo Elsa’s great-grandmother, Vona Hedrick. When Raighne was a little girl, Mimi (that’s what everybody called her) told her the story of Goldilocks frippin’ down the lane and messing up the Bears’ house.
Raighne always wondered why Goldilocks didn’t have to pick up the mess she made. This wondering led her to create Vonawood…
and nothing’s been the same since.
